FRIDAY FINANCE

Hey there!

Hope you’ve had a lovely week. Welcome to our finance digest this evening. Today we explore the finance related topics that have made headlines. Though not many were as juicy, we still dive in!

Where TWO become ONE😍

Probably the biggest highlight this week has to be the proposed merger between Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) and NIC, a move that is projected to bring the total value of the new entity’s assets to 444.3 billion. To investors, this spices up the urge to invest in the banking sector. As highlighted earlier this week, banks in Kenya are performing better in registering improved profits compared to firms in other industries mainly due to their investments in government securities rather than lending to firms and individuals with higher risks of default. Watch out for this merger which is expected to generate good investment synergies with NIC most likely being the target company and CBA the acquirer.

Clear blue skies you say

The direct flight to US launched late this year has brought about a positive buzz and as highlighted by Business Daily on Thursday, the airline industry is registering improved performance evidenced by a rising trend in commercial aircraft movements. Domestic flights have also been on the rise especially to our beautiful Kisumu city as new airlines are mushrooming to compete with the likes of KQ and JamboJet.

A bottle of Guinness with manchester united legend, Rio!🍻

This weekend some lucky football fans will be treated to some football love and intensity as Rio Ferdinand joins them in a busy premier league watching weekend. This move by KBL to use prominent footballers to retain and increase its market share is becoming promising as Rio is third after Thierry Henry and David Di Matteo to grace the Kenyan landscape in advertising the brewer. The strategy comes in handy especially as international brewers such as Warsteiner beer look to have a market share in Kenya’s drinking spree.

That’s it for today. Thank you for reading through, though short,I really appreciate.

My hope is to grow in providing you with the best up dates in the finance sector and also to write on other juicy topics. Please feel free to engage with me in the comments (ask anything) and be blessed.❤❤❤

Good series to watch over the weekend; “Manifest”…for a movie; “a star is born”.

We catch up tomorrow to wrap up this week’s finance stories and also expand our scope to the global finance headlines.
